Shana has toured
and recorded with Van Morrison for a number of years
as part of his Rhythm and Soul Review. And although she
might be the daughter of rock icon Van Morrison, Shana
has a sound all her own. Her music is an eclectic blend
of rock, blues, and pop, and she has a unique, versatile
vocal style and gifted songwriting talents.
Shana
began performing with her group Caledonia in the San
Francisco Bay Area in 1996. Her debut CD, Caledonia,
was released on her own label, Belfast Violet Records,
in ’98 and pick up by the Monster Music label in
1999. Caledonia received favorable reviews from the L.A
Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and San Francisco
Examiner, as well as radio airplay on several major stations.
Tours across the country soon followed.
Shana’s
band did a live broadcast for the BBC’s Kelly Show,
which aired in 1996. Shana sang at the BRIT Awards in ’96,
when her father was presented with a lifetime-achievement
award. She also participated in a VH-1 Father’s
Day special and was featured in People magazine in ’97,
Rolling Stone in ’99, and Interview in 2002.
Paying
tribute to and playing for artists Brownie McGee and
Charles Brown, Shana has shared billing with the likes
of Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, and Dr. John. She has
had the type of exposure she deserves; opening shows
for Lyle Lovett, Joe Cocker, Michael MacDonald, John
Hyatt, and Keb ‘Mo. In 2000 Shana collaborated
with slide guitarist Roy Rogers on their CD “Everybody’s
Angel”, touring festivals across America and Australia,
receiving outstanding reviews for their unique style
of blues and Americana roots music. Vanguard Records
signed Shana is 2001, and her album 7 Wishes was released
in 2002. Since 2002 the band has been busy with tours
in the U.S., Germany, Italy, Ireland and the U.K., playing
radio shows, clubs, theaters and festivals. Early in
2006 saw Shana singing beside Van Morrison again during
his US tour. Then back in the US for her much anticipated
release of the R & B flavored CD That’s Who
I Am on Belfast Violet Records.
