Chicago’s Classic
Hits inspire a generation of music fans. The second biggest
American rock band ever isn't so concerned about eight
guys from Sacramento cashing in on their sound. When
the members of cover band Chicago Tribute Authority met
the real group after their sold-out performance at the
2007 California State Fair, the rock legends practically
gave the group their blessing. "Chicago is very
much behind anything that gets their name out and promotes
their music,” said John Dengate, keyboardist for
Chicago Tribute Authority. “I was telling Robert
(Lamm, founding Chicago member) the most common thing
we hear (from our audiences) is that they had forgotten
just how very many great songs Chicago has. Then they
want to go out and pick up one or two of their albums. ”That's
something the tribute group has been doing since its
formation in 2005 - making people remember how much they
love the music of Chicago as well as introducing their
music to new fans.
